The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, in consultation with National Director of Public Prosecutions Advocate Andy Mothibi, has appointed Advocate Ntuthuzelo Vanara as Acting Head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC).
Vanara replaces Advocate Andrea Johnson, who resigned amid controversy and allegations that have cast a shadow over her tenure.
A seasoned legal, governance and regulatory leader with more than 25 years’ experience across Parliament, state institutions and state‑owned enterprises, Vanara previously served as Group Executive: Legal, Governance & Regulatory at the SABC and held senior roles in Parliament and various oversight structures. He holds B.Proc, LLB and LLM qualifications from the University of the Free State.
Currently Chief Legal Counsel at the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), Vanara provides strategic leadership in civil litigation, asset recovery, corporate legal services and compliance. He joins IDAC on secondment and assumes his new responsibilities immediately.
Minister Kubayi expressed confidence in Vanara’s integrity and ability to stabilise and reposition IDAC, wishing him well in his new role.
