President Ramaphosa Fires Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe
Calls for Tolashe to be dismissed have been growing after media allegations that cars donated to the ANC Women’s League were registered in her children's names.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has in terms of section 91(2) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa,1996, removed Nokuzola Gladys (Sisisi) Tolashe from the position of Minister of Social Development, the Presidency said in a statement.
In the interim, Ramaphosa has appointed Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Sindisiwe Chikunga as the acting minister in the portfolio pending a full-time appointment in due course.
Calls for Tolashe to vacate her position have been growing following media reports she has been involved in graft and corruption when cars donated to the ANC Women’s League were allegedly gifted to her children.

IOL reports that Ramaphosa fired Tolashe after being pressured by the DA and ActionSA and that has led to the cabinet reshuffle on Thursday, although the president didn’t state reasons in his statement.
Tolashe was appointed as South Africa's Minister of Social Development on 3 July 2024, from her previous role as Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities. Tolashe.
